Ella Jayne Records Old Piano

Recording Old Piano

Old Piano, written by the fabulous Krysta Youngs, was covered this month by Ella Jayne in preparation for release in February of next year for the release of her album “Nightfall”.

On November 28, Ella Jayne recorded Old Piano at Shock City Studios in St. Louis, Missouri. Shock City Studios is an award-winning and community-engaged large-format recording facility that specializes in music recording, podcasts, audiobooks, and post-production services.

“I had so much fun recording Old Piano,” beams Ella Jayne. “It was a lot different from Nashville. They were really really nice and kind of spoiling me and told me it was okay to be a diva there! They wanted to make it exactly how I wanted it to be. They were super welcoming and nice.  When I was recording it was a very professional setting and calming and I think that helped me a lot. I will say that because of my previous experience, any time I messed up I thought they were going to kick me out.”

Thankfully, that didn’t happen and Ella Jayne recorded Old Piano, her first original licensed song. Old Piano is about this girl who has nothing left. Her heart has been broken and she has nothing left but the old piano. Because she has no one to tell everything to, it’s her best friend.

“I am really excited to make a music video for it once I do release it because it will feature my grandma’s 50 year old piano!”
