On November 24, 2021, Ella Jayne sang God Bless America at the 4th Annual Guns N’ Hoses Fight at the Enterprise Center.
Guns N’ Hoses is a non-profit presented by the St. Louis Guns N’ Hoses Boxing Association and sponsored by Budweiser and Grey Eagle Distributors. The event raises funds for The Backstoppers, a non-profit organization that assists the families of first responders who have died in the line of duty. Since its inception in 1987, this annual boxing event has raised over $9 million!
For the first time ever, this event was televised on Fox 2 News as well as on Fite.tv. A telethon also took place during the event to raise more funds.
Honored to Perform
Ella Jayne was honored to perform at the event. “It was a dream to perform at the event,” she says.
“I mean it was kind of, whenever I performed at the family arena it was a big audience but it wasn’t like that because this one I knew I was doing for a good cause, I was kind of nervous because I wasn’t sure if I was going to mess up and especially because there were important people there. But when I did complete it I was really happy I didn’t mess up. Police officers and firefighters, just a lot of first responders and retired military, and I wanted to respect them.”
The days before the event, Ella Jayne and her dad got serious about practicing! “I used to do this song when I was 3. I had it memorized so he was scared I was going to forget again.”
This time, she and her family were able to stay for the fight and enjoy the event. “I was with my friend Kaden because she’s always wanted to see one and then she spent the night. Overall, it was a good night,” she beams.
