As a growing artist, Ella Jayne has experience singing solo and with other musicians. Most recently, she sang with Portrait: The Music of Kansas at the Family Arena.
Preparing For The Stage
In the last blog, Ella Jayne mentioned she was most excited for this performance. In prepping for it, she listened to the song “over and over again,” with occasional practice with Jim, Portrait’s guitarist. “That really helped to get it in my head.”
But this performance was a little different. When Ella sang at the Shamrock FC Fight at Ameristar Casino, she got to ride in a limo with her family and to kill time and to calm her nerves, they went out to dinner beforehand. For this experience, “there wasn’t much in terms of prep like last time,” she said. “We drove there in my dad’s car and before we got in, we got some food from Arby’s because we didn’t know they were going to have food there. They had pizza and donuts at the event, and I don’t like donuts but they had a pumpkin donut that I really liked.”
A Natural On The Stage
That night, the Family Arena was seated for 2,600 people. But when asked if the crowd made her nervous, Ella Jayne replied, “Not really. It was actually kind of relaxing because it wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be.”
In fact, her favorite part of the whole night “was definitely the crowd supporting me when I was done singing and seeing their faces when they heard me sing,” she told us.
In theme with the band’s main music inspiration, Ella Jayne sang “Cheyenne Anthem” by Kansas. What is usually a seven-minute song, they cut the middle verse out of on purpose to bring it down to three.
Future Dreams Of Tours
Having now sung in front of a large crowd a few times, it’s made Ella Jayne dream of more. She explained how this performance has given her more confidence to perform in arenas in the future “It’s what makes me want to go on tour when I’m older. My dad is saying maybe next year sometime.”
Until then, Ella Jayne will continue to perform during the weekends at various wineries, stages, and events throughout Missouri!
